SPECIFICATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

Metal Roofing, Mobile Homes & RVs

Built-up Pitched Tar Roofs

Rolled Roofing, Roof Decks & Plywood Restoration

These are only suggested specifications. Read all label instructions before beginning. Always run a test patch first in an inconspicuous area, to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occurs and the product works to your satisfaction.


Metal Application

Waterproof metal roofs, RV's and  mobile homes

Metal Roofing, Mobile Homes & RVs

(1) Remove loose dirt, flaking rust, and debris from the roof surface: refasten any screws or nails that may have worked loose.

(2) Prime with 1-3 coats of Elasto-Barrier or Snow Seal until roof surface is smooth and sealed. Apply seam tape over all seams and brush a liberal coat of coating over J-strips and screws.

(3) Top coat with 1-2 coats of Snow Seal, or as needed to complete application.

 
 

Tar Restoration System

Waterproofing tar roofs with Snow Seal

Built-up Pitched Tar Roofs

(1) Remove loose dirt and gravel, moss and debris from the roof surface and power wash.

(2) Prime with 2-3 coats of Snow Seal or Elasto-Barrier until roof surface is smooth and sealed. IMPORTANT: Prime roof completely smooth and watertight before applying roofing fabric.

(3) Top coat with 1-2 coats of Snow Seal or as needed to complete application. The minimum application is 5 gal/100 sq. ft.

How to waterproof rolled roofing and roof dekcs

Rolled Roofing

(1) Remove loose dirt, granules, moss, and debris from roof surface. IMPORTANT: Use caution with power washing. Replace any missing pieces of rolled roofing.

(2) Prime with 2-3 coats of Snow Seal or Elasto-Barrier until roof surface is smooth and sealed.

(3) Top coat with 1-2 coats of Snow Seal or as needed to complete application. For roof decks, top coat with Ames Safe-T-Deck. NOTE: Do not apply fabric over a gravel roof.
